An Open Badge is a digital representation of a skill or achievement earned from a creditable organization. This session presents a framework for how school districts can leverage open badges to encourage and reward professional growth through non-traditional means. Earned badges can be displayed in professional portfolios, Linkedin profiles, and various social networks like Facebook and Google Plus. Badges can also correspond to continuing education units. The session will demonstrate how WordPress, BadgeOS, and Creedly can be used as a framework for developing learning pathways for staff. While the session is geared towards profession development of staff members, the framework can easily be applied to classroom scenarios as well.
